7 DAY DIET SUCCESS!

TRYING TO LOSE A FEW POUNDS FOR THE HOLIDAYS
RESULTS AFTER 7 DAYS = 10LBS LOSS!!!

Still maintaining the weight loss and loving it.  Gained back a few pounds during a vacation/cruise but will lose it soon!  I have been eating Pasta more these days.  Maybe once or twice a month with smaller portions.  Cannot believe that I have been doing the low carb lifestyle for almost two years now.  I am never going back to fat!


I see my doctor every 90 days and on my chart there are words that prompt the doctor on my health history.  Two words at the top of the list were Hypertension and obesity.  For over ten years, I have looked at that frickin chart and seen the word "obesity".  Every nurse and doctor that read my chart see that first.  Well this week my doctor looked at me, did some tests and said I look better than he has ever seen me.  Said I looked younger and now have a waist.  Then he took the folder and crossed off "obesity" and shook my hand.  To think just over a year ago I was pushing 200 pounds and wearing 34-36" pants and large to extra large shirts.  Now I am at 32-33" pants and small to medium shirts.  I actually gave away all of my large and extra large shirts so I could not go back to wearing them.  Over the past few months I have received more compliments on my looks than ever before in my life.  I now remember that nobody ever said I looked good when I was plumper.  It is not about the looks but I just feel better when I throw on a size small or slim cut shirt and see that my belly no longer hangs over my belt.  When I look around at men my age, it seems most have a large round belly.  I look at that and say to myself "never again" for me.  Hopefully I can maintain this lifestyle and continue to lose or maintain weight.  I truly wish that anyone who wants to lose weight realizes the simple fact that carbs and sugar turn to fat.  

UPDATE 7/21
Stayed on a low carb diet and shed 20 pounds with very little exercise.  Keto was a bit too much for me as I could not keep up eating all the fats.  Switched to a sensible low carb/low sugar diet and it worked.  Still enjoying my wine, chocolate and ice cream too.  I truly believe that anyone who wants to loose weight can going low carb/low sugar.  Just check with your doctor to see if this type of diet is good for you.  I'll be watching the carbs forever now. 

We have been eating far too well over the past few weeks.  Both me and the Wife packing on some unwanted pounds.  Decided to try a 7 Day diet which began with a 24 hour fast.  Have been drinking lots of water with lemon juice and cayenne pepper plus a tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar twice daily.  Cutting out my nightly wine which if I can do until next Sunday will a dramatic victory,  Heck if I can get through until tomorrow on the 24 fast that will be dramatic.  I meal prepped breakfast and lunch for tomorrow at the office.  While I never eat breakfast, I think this will be good for me.  Cooked up some egg whites and mixed with onion, bell pepper and mushrooms for breakfast.  Lunch will be a salad with a few ounces of turkey breast and nearly fat free dressing.  Found a little container that holds both my breakfast and lunch in two separate compartments and comes with a small container for dressing.  If I can make it through this breakfast and lunch tomorrow, I will come up with a dinner based mostly on vegetables with a little a few ounces of protein.  Going to try to cut out carbs for the week and most importantly the vino which I love.  Should be fun to see what types of meals I can come up with to keep my blogging going during the week. Here we go.....lets see if I can make it until Sunday.

UPDATE #1:  Made it through the 24 hour fast.  Really wanted to snack and got really hungry around dinner time.  I drank a lot of lemon water and had no wine before going to bed.  Did not sleep well.  Thinking about Crunchy Beef Tacos all night.  Was seeing my tacos and wanting to take a big bite.  Woke up the next morning at 3am and was not hungry.  I took my normal vitamins and then went to work with my egg whites for breakfast and salad for lunch. Really was not hungry but I at the egg whites along with a bottle of water with lemon, apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper.  Satisfied and full.  When lunch came around I ate my salad and was somewhat full and satisfied.  This is the time I usually walk the office looking for snacks.  Someone usually has cookies, chips or candy at their desk.  I did not snack.  Got home and wanted to eat something. I usually grab some licorice, beef jerky or other treats.  To make it worse there were two pizzas on the counter that my Daughter had bought at Pieolgy.  I looked inside and wanted to mow a slice right then and there.  My Wife yelled "Don't do it".   Instead I meal prepped tomorrows breakfast and lunch which will be the same as todays.  While I have been going to the bathroom more, it does not seem excessive and it feels good flushing my system.  Got on the scale and I was down 3 pounds from my initial weigh in.  Cannot wait for dinner!

UPDATE #2:  Made dinner using our Air Fryer.  Brussels Sprouts with just a dribble of Avocado Oil, Balsamic Vinegar, Garlic and Pearl Onions, Salt and Pepper with a Salmon Filet lightly seasoned with Flavor God Garlic and Lemon, Paprika and a tiny drizzle of Honey. Salmon was delicious but the Sprouts were a bit dry with no oil or sauce.  The Garlic Chips and Onions helped with the flavor.

UPDATE #3 (Day 3): Feeling great.  Got on the scale and was down another 2 pounds.  Now I know this is just water loss but it feels good to see results and change some of my eating habits.  Woke up again and was not hungry. I had the Vinegar, Cayenne and Lemon Water and then ate my Egg Whites for breakfast.  Only finished half and I ate the other half as a snack when I got home from work.  Had Salad with Not craving my wine but do occasionally want some junk food or sweets. Dinner:  Made low carb and low fat Zucchini Boats.  Grilled the Zucchini and then filled them witha mixture of Onions, Carrots, Garlic, Mushrooms, Bell Pepper, Tomato Sauce and a bit of Ground Beef.  Delicious but I wanted to eat two of them.  Only ate one without any Parmesan Cheese.

UPDATE #4: (Day 4) Woke up feeling great.  Still not getting to sleep as early as when I was drinking a few glasses of wine at night.  Drank the Lemon, Vinegar and Cayenne water before breakfast.  Once again I could only eat half the portion.  Was full and content.  Lunch was the same Salad with Turkey and half an Avocado.  Filled me up.  So I am drinking the Vinegar, Lemon Juice twice a day.  Once before breakfast and once before dinner.  So far down 7 pounds and liking this diet.  If I feel good on Sunday, I may extend it another seven days after drinking some vino.  Dinner tonight will be Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts with Green Beans, Carrots and Bell Pepper.  For dinner I grilled Chicken Tenders seasoned with Flavor God Chipotle Seasoning, Pepper, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder and Thyme.
Served with Green Beans, Carrots, Bell Pepper, Shallots, Garlic and a bit of Chicken Stock.  Delicious.  I am a bit hungry and jonesing for a glass a wine.

UPDATE #5: (Day 5) Feeling great and staying with the diet.  Once again not sleeping as early without the vino.  Woke up feeling great.  Got on the scale and Bam...down another two pounds.  Had my leftover half portion of Egg Whites and Vegetables for breakfast after downing the Lemon Juice, Vinegar and Cayenne Water.  Drank a cup of coffee (8oz).  Enjoyed a Tuna Sandwich on Grilled Bell Pepper for lunch.  It as absolutely delicious, satisfying and filling. Came home a little hungry and of course wanted to snack. I want for more Lemon Juice, Vinegar and Cayenne water and that killed my appetite.  Can't wait for dinner where I will do Stuffed Bell Peppers with the same mixture I used for the Stuffed Zucchini Boats.
Trying a little Green Tea tonight to get my mind of a glass of vino :). 

UPDATE #6: (Day 6) Still feeling great.  Woke up and really did not want to eat but had the Egg Whites for breakfast along with an 8oz cup of coffee and yes some delicious Vinegar, Lemon Juice and Cayenne Water. Enjoyed a delicious Turkey and Avocado Salad for lunch.  Bummed we are out of Thanksgiving Turkey soon.  Did not have many cravings today even when I saw candy and cookies at the office.  The vinegar and lemon water was my after work drink.  Not my favorite.  For dinner tonight we will enjoy a Avocados Stuffed with Crab.  Looking like I will be extending this diet another week if I can get through the weekend.  Weight is coming off and I can get back into most of my size medium shirts which is great.
Still a long way to go on the weight loss so I must stick to a plan like this if I am going to reach my goals and be able to fit into some of the clothes I was wearing pre-COVID-19.

UPDATE #7 (Day 7).  Feeling really good.  No cravings in the morning.  Had half portion of Egg Whites for breakfast along with an 8oz cup of coffee and of course the Lemon and Vinegar Water (yuck).  For lunch I had half of Avocado with the Crab mixture we had for dinner.  Full but craving something sweet. No prob.  Just downed a bottle of water with half a lemon juice.  Dinner tonight will be steak!  Decided to take this diet on for another week to see if the pounds keep melting off.  Looks like I will end the week with a 10 pound weight loss.  I am totally happy with this as I did not really do any exercise.  Looks like we are changing to a Keto Diet.  Looking forward to another week and to share the results.  One observation is that I am not sleeping that well and am experiences nightmares like I have never had before.  Trouble going to sleep but I have read this is a side effect of being in Ketosis.  The basics of this weight loss is cut out carbs and sugar from your diet and turn your body into a fat burning machine using fat. What I miss most on this diet is Pasta, Pizza and Sweets.  My Wife misses Rice, Bread, and Cookies.  I purchased Keto friendly Pasta, Pizza Dough, Cookies and Sweets and will post on them as we try them.

UPDATE:  Going into week #2 on what is now a Keto diet.  Started my my day with the lovely Vinegar and Lemon Juice and then made a little Keto Tower with Egg, Onion, Mushrooms with Bacon, Avocado and Tomato.  Delicious but I only ate half because I was full.  Skipped lunch because I was not hungry.  We we craving Tacos so I made a Taco Salad with Seasoned Ground Beef, Lettuce, Cheddar Cheese, Pico de Gallo and Sour Cream.  So satisfying and delicious.

UPDATE:  Week two and I am down 12 pounds.  Learning a bit more about Keto and how to get in and stay in ketosis fat burning mode. Not really craving my vino.  I had a few ounces last night.  The first time I went to have a glass, I couldn't drink it.  Just had no desire.  Snacking has been an issue on this diet.  Finding the right snacks that are low carb.  Found that I can eat some Sunflower Seeds which has been nice.  Also got these Chocolate Mint Fat Bombs that are delicious.  Tried a Keto Ice Cream but it is a bit chalky and does not satisfy.  Pork Rinds are always in the house now too.  Got some Quest Keto Chocolate Chip Cookies.  They are not that good and my Wife hates the aftertaste.  Beef Jerky has been on the snack menu during the second week of diet.  Also tried Keto Gummy Bears which are ok. I only eat one at a time between meals.  What I miss most right now is Pasta.  We got some Keto friendly Pasta that we will try next week.  Stay tuned.

UPDATE 12/28/20 - One month into the low carb Keto diet and I am now down 15 pounds.  Was stuck at 12-14 pounds loss for almost two weeks and now have pushed through my second weight loss goal. Going for another 10 pounds loss so will be eating low carbs for another month or two or perhaps forever.  Yes I do miss Pasta and Sweets but we are finding more and more Keto friendly foods to fill those voids.  I will be posting some of my favorites.
