DUDE DOGS - KAUAI
KUKUI' ULA VILLAGE
A visit to Kauai usually includes a visit to the now famous "Puka Dog". This trip we tried a new place not far from Puka Dog that had some pretty good web reviews. Dude Dogs is located in Kukui' Ula Village just outside Poipu. We were greeted by a spunky lady at Dude Dogs that was more than happy to build our dog anyway we wanted it. Dogs here run from $3.89 to $5.39. For $3.89 you can get the basic Dude Dog with Mustard, Relish, Tomato and Onions. The Slum Dog includes Mustard, Coleslaw and Onions. Other Dude Dogs include; Wilbur - Mustard, Onion, Cheddar and Bacon. The Michaca - Chipotle, Mustard, Nacho Cheese and Jalapenos. Seattle Tsunami - Maui Onion, Mustard Creme Cheese and Pineapple Salsa. Smelly Cat - Wasabi Mustard, Swiss and Kraut. Cezar - Dijon, Blu Cheese, Tomato and Bacon. I ordered the Dude Dog with Cole Slaw. The Dog was big and totally covered in slaw. The slaw was good but really made the bun wet and fall apart. Finger linking good though. I ended up scraping the slaw off the top and eating it on the side. The dog had a nice crunch to it and some nice flavor. I liked Dude Dogs and cannot wait to return to try another.
