HENRY LOUI'S

HENRY LOUI'S
HONOLULU, HAWAII

Henry Loui's is one of those old Hawaii gems that has not changed in decades.  The restaurant shows its age inside and out.  Probably a good thing that they keep the place really dark.  No matter how bright and hot it is outside, it will always be dark inside.  I don't think the place has any windows.  The dark atmosphere does not turn me on but the food is good enough to live with it.  The restaurant is separated in two parts.  One side is a Sports Bar and the other is the dining area.  The menu includes their signature ribs, prime rib, steak, salads, burgers and seafood.  I have only been here for lunch where you can get in and out in a reasonable amount of time.  The service was good.  Very old school Hawaii style.  I love the House Special French Dip Sandwich ($10.95).  The French Roll was perfect on this day.  Moist in the middle and crunchy on the outside.  The thickly sliced prime rib in the sandwich was cooked to perfection and full of flavor.  Really did not need the Au jus but I did the dipping and loved it.  The French Dip comes with your choice of salad, french fries, soup, potato/mac or cole slaw.  I have tried the cole slaw and did not like it.  The french fries are awesome.  Brown and crispy.  Tried the salad and really liked what tasted like a raspberry vinaigrette dressing.  I could really make having the French Dip here a habit.  Will return to try the ribs and some other menu items.

HENRY LOUI'S  FRENCH DIP WAS AWESOME

ONE OF THOSE PLACES THAT HAS NOT
CHANGED INSIDE OR OUT FOR OVER 20 YEARS
HOUSE SALAD, FRIES OR COLE SLAW COME
WITH THE FRENCH DIP SANDWICH.  LIKED THE
VINAIGRETTE DRESSING.
