911 MEMORIAL - NEW YORK

911 MEMORIAL
NEW YORK

Words cannot describe my feelings when visiting the site of 911.  I traveled here just a few months after this terrible event.  At that time and subsequent visits I have cried.  Tears for those who died and tears for the people of New York who ran into the buildings rather than away.  I have more feelings about this that I can describe.  This was the saddest day of my life and also one of the proudest.  Sad for those who perished and proud of the way New York responded to this tragic event.  I remember this day like it was yesterday.  New York was America.  America was New York.  We were one.  A nation together on the Island of Manhattan.  No other city has sacrificed so much.  No other city has given so much.  The people of New York are from all corners of the earth. A true melting pot.  On this day and subsequent days, weeks, months and years the people of New York have stood strong through so much pain and destruction.  It is all coming together now after over ten years.  New buildings are being resurrected on the site and two beautiful water filled memorials now commemorate the fallen.  America is back better than ever.  Bring your mom, your dad and family to visit New York.  Take in the sights, sounds and flavors of America's greatest city.  But also take time to reflect and remember those who died here.  This is hallowed ground that should be respected by all Americans.  God Bless America and New York!
