KNOLL GOLF COURSE WEST - BOONTON, NEW JERSEY

KNOLL GOLF COURSE WEST
BOONTON, NEW JERSEY

Enjoyed a great round of golf at the Knoll West Golf Course in New Jersey.  The weather was warm and the course was in pristine condition.  We were the last group out in the late afternoon and basically had the course to ourselves during the back nine.  Loved this course.  Full of beautiful trees and some pretty challenging holes.  We saw deer, squirrels and other little critters as we happily played into the sunset.  The Beer Girl who rides around in a cart made sure to visit us several times and kept us cool with ice cold beverages.  She was on break from college and her father is a member of the club.  As we approached the 18th hole, there were three employees watching us as we finished our round.  They were intrigued with these hackers from Hawaii and offered up big smiles and asked how we liked the course.  Loved it we said and the conversation continued.  We were about to call the hotel bus to come get us when one of the men said that he would be happy to drive us back in his truck.  Turns out he works at the club and is a retired New Jersey Police Officer.  Spent 30 years on the force. Enjoyed some great conversation and really appreciated his generosity and time.  New Jersey people were fantastic and I highly recommend Knoll West Golf Club.

In August 2009 edition of Golf Digest Magazine the Knoll West was rated the #1 municipal course in the state of New Jersey!!!!  Situated on 360 beautiful wooded acres in the Township of Parsippany–Troy Hills, the Knoll Golf Club consists of two 18 hole golf courses, the Knoll East and Knoll West. Conceived in the Roaring Twenties by a few extremely wealthy men who wanted a superb private course for their personal pleasure, the 339-acre Knoll Golf Club West is today one of the finest golf courses in the state of New Jersey. The Knoll Golf Club West was established in 1929 as a champion course designed by Charles H. Banks. It is a par 70 course playing 6,752 yards from the blue tees and 6,479 from the white tees. This course is semi-private. The Knoll Golf Club East, established in 1961, was designed by Hal Purdy. It is a par 70 course playing 5,884 yards from the white tees. This course is a public facility and tee times are on a first come first serve basis. Over the years, The Knoll Golf Club West has grown to more than 900 members strong and while it has gone through some minor alterations, the course remains virtually unchanged since its beginning.
