Great Eats Hawaii readers are getting another scoop on a new restaurant opening today in Honolulu.  Karai Crab is a Fun and Spicy Seafood Restaurant located in an intimate space ma kai of the main entrance to The Willows.  Karai Crab means "Spicy Crab" and is the brainchild of General Manager Garret Kamei who had envisioned a crab eatery over a year ago.  Kamei enlisted the cooking skills of Executive Chef Miles Miyamoto who has created exciting new sauces that are designed to take Karai Crab to the next level above the competition.  Karai Crab has checked out the competition and they are confident that their sauces combined with a convenient location will bring in the tourists and locals alike.  After sampling the food, I can tell you that this is the best or one of the top two new Crab and Seafood Restaurants to open in Hawaii.  The sauces are amazing and set Karai Crab apart from their competitors who did not spend enough time researching and developing sauces to compliment the seafood.  Karai Crab brings the "heat" with three levels of hot that will not disappoint.  From mild to super spicy, the sauces deliver on taste and heat.  At Karai Crab you can choose from nine seafood choices and six seasoning sauces;  Garlic Butter, Cajun (with over 20 ingredients), Karai Combo (a marriage of Garlic Butter and Cajun), Tropical Habanero (karai flavors of Hawaii), Lemon Pepper (zesty, karai sauce), and Court Bouillon (a flavorful, aromatic base for poaching all seafood that allows full flavors to emerge).  Next you pick the "heat".  This is where I think Karai Crab wins it over the local competition.  There is Medium Cayenne, Spicy Habanero and Extra Spicy Ghost Pepper.  I loved the Habanero and Ghost Pepper spices.  These will set your heat urges free and fill every pore in your body with garlic and heat.  I tried the crab, crawfish, clams, shrimp, catfish, corn, chicken wings and Etoufee.  The Etoufee is worth a trip here alone.  Slightly spicy Cajun style stew that is delicious.  The chicken wings also had great flavor as did the catfish.  The catfish is lightly battered and served with a tangy tarter sauce.  Fish was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of batter.  Catfish is a winner.  Karai Crab delivers the big bold flavors that I crave plus the "heat".  This is a combination for success in my book.  Think the place will do well.  Only problem is the size.  I can see long waits because there just are not enough tables for the amount of people who will visit this restaurant.  You got the scoop here so get to Karai Crab before the crowds.  Go for the "heat" and you will not be disappointed.
