Enjoyed a great dinner at the Hulopo'e Court Steakhouse.  The view was wonderful and the service was superior.  I waiter named Tim was a true professional and went above and beyond the call of duty to make this one special evening.  Cannot say enough good about the service and especially Tim.  During our meal sirens blasted around the Island to warn us that Hawaii was under a tsunami warning.  Our wait staff was cool about this and did not rush us to finish.  Instead we hoisted a glass of champagne and enjoyed the great weather.

The Challenge at Manele was designed by Jack Nicklaus.  The dramatic natural coastline terrain with magnificent ocean views make this one of the most beautiful courses in Hawaii.  The course was tougher than The Experience at Koele and totally different.

How do I describe what was possibly the best golf day of my life.  Well it was AWESOME!  Not because I shot a good score but purely based on the natural beauty and surroundings of the course.  The Experience at Koele is spectacular.  Probably one of the most beautiful courses I have ever played.  Playing here is pure heaven especially when there are only a handful of golfers on the course and you can take your time and take in the sights.  After each and every hole we just kept saying "beautiful" and thanking the Lord for being here on a perfect Hawaii day.  This course begins on a plateau nearly 2000 feet above sea level.  On a clear day you can see views of Maui and Molokai across the channel.  The signature 17th hole was incredible.  You tee off 250 feet above the fairway.  There is water on the right and woods on the left.  You must hit the ball straight to have a good score here.  I launched a perfect drive down the middle and got a par on the 17th.  This is something I will never forget.  This was the signature hole for my brief golf career that began a year ago.  I followed up the par on 17 with a birdie on 18.  Not bad for a hacker with 34 handicap.  The course plays through ravines wooded with pine, koa and eucalyptus trees and has seven lakes and flowing streams with cascading waterfalls along the entire course.  The Experience at Koele is a must for anyone who enjoys a round of golf in a beautiful setting.  I LOVE THIS PLACE!

Dinner in the Dining Room at The Lodge at Koele got mixed reviews.  I went with the Chef's Tasting Menu ($85) and three others went with the "Duo" of Beef Tenderloin and Keahole Lobster ($59).  Reviews for the "Duo" were excellent with all three loving the combination of steak and lobster.  Our table ordered an appetizer of Venison ($27).  The Venison was seared on a hot rock at our table.  Nice touch but the Venison had absolutely no flavor.  We also tried the Foie Gras ($27).  This was a cold Terrine dish that was good at best.  These appetizers were expensive and did not really deliver the taste for the price.  The Tasting Menu was good up until the Wagyu Beef main course.  The beef portion was small with only two strips of meat that was tasteless. Really not seasoned well.  This was really not worth eating.  The plate was filled with a large container of some sort of sauce that really did not help.  I thought you pay a premium for Wagyu Beef so you do not have to cover it with sauce.  The flavor of the meat should come through.  It did not.  This was a big time expensive meal in a beautiful restaurant with great service.  The evening was wonderful with great friends and some fine wine.
