I loved Motown the Musical on Broadway. The cast is explosive and delivers the music of Motown via a great story about the career of Motown Founder Berry Gordy. From his days as a young kid growing up in Detroit to a Superstar existence in Los Angeles representing some of the greatest talents in music history. Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson and the Supremes. Gordy's love interest through most of the play is Diana Ross and the gal playing Diana delivers a powerful range of songs that really bring the house down. Gordy also sings and he delivers a solo performance at the end of the show that made me want to stand up and cheer. Amazing performance and song. The story of Gordy coming up through the ranks and making it big takes a turn when many of his biggest artists are loured away by larger record labels with more money. Motown is on the verge of bankruptcy and Gordy comes close to giving up. Loved the story and music!
