My daughter recommended we try 678 Hawaii on Kapiolani as we driving past the place going to Ala Moana Center.  She always sees a crowd there so it must be good she said.  We tried it and "yes", it was good.  Liked the food and vibe of the place but the service was a bit uneven.  Did not really have one person waiting our table.  Started with one gal, then a guy and then another girl.  No mention was made of the menu or how to order.  No information given on what was being served.  I think this might be helpful because there are some unknowns.  For example, we ordered water and were served a bottle of brown liquid with no explanation what it was.  A waiter also poured a yellow mixture into the side of the grill pan and walked away.  I asked about the water and was told that it was Korean Tea.  The yellow stuff turned out to be eggs which are supposed to cook until scrambled.  Our eggs never cooked and non of the wait staff seemed to care.  We left the mixture wet and runny as it was served.  Meats are delivered to your table after a large array of salad and vegetables are served.  The place card on the table explains how to mix the salad.  The wait staff said nothing.  You basically cook your own meats on the gas grill that is in the middle of each table.  There is a Special Dipping Sauce with Wasabi which of course nobody will tell you what it is.   It is good though.  Loaded with sliced onions and jalapeños.  We ordered the 678 Combination for Two ($49.99).  Enjoyed pretty much everything served with the exception of the uncooked eggs.  This was a little too much meat for me.  Wished there were a few vegetable selections to go with all the meat.  I would like to return again to try some of the Pork dishes.
