UNITED AIRLINES - HONOLULU TO SAN FRANCISCO

UNITED AIRLINES
HONOLULU TO SAN FRANCISCO

Cashed in a boat load of miles to upgrade to First Class going from Honolulu to San Francisco.  Not worth the miles.  Seating is tight in First Class and the service on United was probably the worst ever I have had in a First Class Cabin.  Flight Attendants were lazy and did not seem like they wanted to be on this flight.  They were old and not into providing any kind of service.  They made sure that all of the windows were closed on this red eye flight all the way until landing so they would not have to work.  We boarded and were offered a drink.  When the flight got to altitude, we were offered a "snack".  Looked like a small plate of rice so I passed.  That was it for 5 1/2 hours first class.  The crew did not even offer coffee upon our arrival at 7:00 am in San Francisco.  They offered pre-poured juice and a muffin in a bag.  Hands down the worst First Class service in my life.  Not worth a penny more than coach.  Update:  Flight back from Los Angeles to Honolulu was just as bad.  We flew on Boeing 737 which had a bit larger seats and more leg room but the service was terrible.  United's management and employees seem to be disconnected from their customers.  I don't know how any airline can continuously provide terrible service with Flight Attendants that don't care about their customers.  Again on the way back the Flight Attendants acted like they were doing you a favor to provide any kind of service.  We were not offered a drink prior to takeoff while those around us were.  Drinks in flight were never refilled and the First Class meal consisted of a bowl of dry pasta with tomato sauce and a large lump of frozen spinach on top.  They said they were out of the beef entree after just taking orders for Row 1.  I was in Row 2 and they were out by the time they got to me.  The Flight Attendants spent most of the flight huddled up in front talking together.  They kept there backs to the customers and rarely walked through the isles to offer water or anything else.  There is a huge training and management problem at United.  Think that most of the Flight Attendants on these flights are more "senior" so they feel "comfortable" in providing the basic services while making sure they do not have too much to do.  I feel sorry for the honeymooners and people on vacation who save up for years or cash in all their miles to fly United First Class to and from Hawaii.  It simply is not worth it only because the employees are not held to any type of service standards.  Do yourself a favor and book Hawaiian Airlines First Class to Hawaii.  Far better planes and service.

FIRST CLASS CABIN IS TIGHT
ENOUGH LEGROOM TO PLACE A BAG IN FRONT
NOT WORTH THE MONEY OR MILES FOR THIS
THEY SHOULD CALL THIS SECOND CLASS
HAD A SMALL PLASTIC CUP OF CHAMPAGNE ON TAKE OFF AND ORANGE JUICE ON LANDING
IMPORTANT THING IS THAT WE MADE IT SAFELY TO SAN FRANCISCO
