2014 CHOPSTICKS AND WINE

CHOPSTICKS AND WINE
HONOLULU, HAWAII

Was lucky to get two tickets to the Chopsticks and Wine event held at the Honolulu Convention Center.  Tickets are $125 each and they always sell out.  The doors open at 6:00 PM and there is unlimited food and wine until 8:30 or whenever they run out.  We arrived around 6:30 because the parking lot was backed up really bad.  Recommend you get here early next year.  You enter Chopsticks and Wine to find a huge table of wine glasses.  You can grab one off the table or purchase a premium glass for $10.  All proceeds from this event go to the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce so I bought the nice glasses.  We started to sample wines and I tell you most were pretty good.  Enjoyed a few glasses from Napa, Spain, Italy, Australia and France.  There a probably a dozen food stations with small plates from some really good restaurants.  The lines for some of the food were just too long so I did not get to try them all.  Seating is also limited and it is hard to hold a wine glass and eat while standing.  There is a VIP seating area with tables but I have no idea what it cost to get a table there.  I liked bouncing all over the large room.  We would grab a glass of wine and then cruise around until we met people or saw friends.  The vino really started rolling around 8:00 and then right when we are having fun the thing ended.  Really enjoy this event and hope to be back again next year.  Only wish they had more tables and a few more hours to party.  Plus I wish it were on a Friday or Saturday night rather than a work night.  Click link below for more information
