Loved our visit at Le Grillardin in Papeete, Tahiti. This restaurant delivered great presentations and flavors that the entire family enjoyed. One of the best meals I have had in a very long time. With French being the main language here, it is a bit difficult to communicate but our waiter did his best to talk to us in English. We started with the Grillardin Salad with Foie Gras (2350 XPF) or about $23.
The salad was large and included three perfectly cooked and seasoned pieces of Foie Gras. Unbelievable flavor. The salad was dressed in a light citrus vinaigrette. Delicious. The Ravioli with Reblochon Cheese and Puff Pastry (2200 XPF) was also excellent. The Ravioli were so light and the cheese was not overpowering. Well balanced flavors. Again a large portion that the entire table shared and enjoyed. The Escargots (2200 XPF) were wrapped in Puff Pastry and served with a salad in a spring roll wrapper. There was not a really big snail flavor as the fried wrapper, vegetables and balsamic overpowered the main ingredient. The Mahi Mahi Filet (3250 XPF) was hands down one of the best seafood dishes of my life. This dish was "Da Bomb". Perfectly cooked and seasoned Mahi Mahi on a bed of Morel Mushrooms and a sauce that made my tastebuds dance. Put all of this together with a little Puff Pastry and it is incredible. The hidden gem of this meal was tucked away behind the Filet of Beef and Foie Gras. The Au Gratin Potatoes were incredible. The entire family fell in love with these potatoes and we wanted to go back the next day and have them again. Next to the Potatoes I had in Norway these were the best ever. I asked the waiter how they make them and he said the secret was a little vanilla. Amazing. Each bite brought us happiness.
