Wow...when you play Royal Hawaiian Golf Club on a clear and warm day with no rain and little wind it is paradise. Spectacular views and the feeling that you are playing golf in Jurassic Park. The $55 green fee is a bargain for the experience of taking in all this Hawaiian beauty. Our group kept pausing during the round just to look around and take it all in. This has to be one of the most beautiful golf courses in America. It is also one of the most difficult. This is a really tough course with narrow fairways and greens that are small and surrounded by danger. One word of advice is to bring a lot of balls. If you occasionally shank a few right, left or long say goodbye to your ball. Once it is in the jungle it is gone. I took it all in and accepted the challenge with joy after I picked up about a dozen used balls from an area that was just cleared. Balls were everywhere. I did not think this before, but any golf vacation to the Island of Oahu should include a round at Royal Hawaiian Golf Club. If you do not like the course, you WILL love the views. The new Clubhouse is also really nice with breakfast and lunch being served. Dinner will be served starting in mid/late June 2017. The views from the dining room are amazing and worth a drive to Kailua for cocktails or a meal. I really cannot wait to get back out on this course to see if I can knock 10 strokes off my last score.
