CU CHI TUNNELS - VIETNAM

CU CHI TUNNELS
VIETNAM

Visited the massive underground tunnel network located near what was once called the "Iron Triangle".  This was the termination of the Ho Chi Minh Trail.  The tunnels were designed by local guerrillas as a springboard for attacking Saigon.  The tunnels were effectively used by the Viet Cong as hiding spots during combat, as well as serving as communication and supply routes, hospitals, food and weapon caches and living quarters for thousands of guerrilla fighters.  The engineering, design and functionality of these tunnels is quite amazing.  I could not stand being in the tunnels for five minutes.  Wanted out so bad after going in.
