THE WESTERN WALL - JERUSALEM, ISRAEL

THE WESTERN WALL
JERUSALEM, ISRAEL

Visiting the Western Wall in Jerusalem was a bit surreal.  I had seen this place so many times on television and really never thought I would be standing in a place with so much history.  As my eyes opened wide and I gazed all around to take the moment in our tour guide yelled at me to pay attention as he was talking.  I couldn't help to bark back at him and let him know that I was taking this moment in on my time and my way.  Don't know why but everything seemed to slow down here for me.  It was like a dream.  I was so eager to go to the wall and did not really want to sit and listen to all the history at this time.  I did listen though.  Afterwards we were split up because the wall is divided for Men and Woman.  The Men's side is much larger.  Before entering I was told to put on a Jewish cap.  I did and then walked slowly towards the Wall.  People were praying all around.  Groups were positioned to the left with bibles, scrolls and books.  White chairs were available and it seemed some people brought their own chairs and tables.  I took time to pray at the Wall and gave thanks for being here.  Kind of felt lonely without having my girls by my side.  Wish they were next to me I thought.  It was like a dream standing at the Wall.  Again everything seemed to slow down and I felt at peace.
