Zazil is not your typical Mexican food with Burritos, Tacos and Enchiladas. It is a more upscale and modern. The restaurant is huge with indoor and outdoor seating for hundreds.
Service was good and brisk. Food was just ok. The Guacamole ($15) was fresh and served with Chips in a paper bag. I tried the September Enchilada Special. Enchiladas Veracruzanas ($26). Corn Tortillas filled with Chorizo, Tomatoes, Onions and topped with a creamy Bean Sauce, Sliced Red Onion and Jalapeno. I liked it but there was not enough Chorizo. My Daughter tried the Pulpo A La Parrilla ($32). Grilled Octopus, Chorizo, Black Beans, Potatoes, Bacon, Pork Rinds, Avocado Cream and Arugula. Not the best Octupus she said and did not finish it. The Acos De Cochinito ($21) were just ok. Corn and Beet Tortilla with Confit Pork Belly, Pickled Vegetables, Honey Morita and Guajillo Chili Sauce. Beans and Rice were really good. Nothing really blew us away here and we all felt that we would not eat here again.
