My friend who works downtown in a bank building gave me a tip that a new restaurant was now open for lunch downtown.  She emailed me the address and I was off with a rep who was visiting from Seattle.  We parked near Murphy's ($13 for parking) and walked up about two blocks up to Pauahi Street.  Found HASR Bistro in a small courtyard.  There were several tables outside but the heat and humidity were a bit high on this day so we opted for an inside seat.  The waitress asked if we had reservations and we said no.  She took us down a small hallway to a back room with about six tables.  This is a small banquet room off the main dining area.  The main dining area was not filled but they were a bit busy.  There is a small bar that sits around six people.  There was a table of 10-12 people sitting next to us in back.  Good thing for us they were finished with lunch and waiting on desserts.  When the desserts came, I said "wow".  They looked really good.  We were served water in canning jars.  Our waiter was a bit awkward and seemed a little bit on edge.  He explained the specials nicely and then began to type our orders into his iPad.  Orders are typed in and then immediately sent to the kitchen via the iPad.  This is important to get lunch patrons in and out fast for lunch he said.  We placed our order and then one person at our table asked to change his order.  The waiter said it was already placed and got a bit agitated.  Rather than upset the waiter, we told him just to order everything as he already punched in.  I ordered the Osso Bucco ($16).  This was a really good dish for $16.  The meat was cooked to perfection.  Could cut it with a fork.  The dish was served with a really good Risotto with fresh mushrooms.  My friend ordered the Cioppino ($23).  This was a large bowl of clams, mussels, shrimp, crab, scallops and fresh fish served in a light tomato sauce.  He said it was great.  Our other friend tried one of the daily pasta specials.  Think it was some kind of chicken with pasta.  He seemed to like it but did not eat much because he said he had a big breakfast.  My overall impression of HASR Bistro is very positive.  I like the atmosphere and food here.  While the waiter was a bit off, the manager or owner stopped by our table several times to make sure we were happy.  I was very happy and full.
