After a five hour flight to San Francisco we needed to check into a hotel before a five hour drive to visit family.  We stayed at the Hilton San Francisco Bayfront in Burlingame which is just minutes from the airport.  On the way to the Hilton we saw a Red Roof Inn that had a 24 hour diner in front of the hotel.  The place looked clean and there were a few people eating inside at around 11:30 PM.  We went in to find a waitress behind the counter and a single cook overseeing the kitchen.  A single woman sat at one end of the counter.  A man at the other.  Next to us was a young couple eating and making late night conversation with no intention of leaving anytime soon.  I watched the lone cook masterfully prepare burgers, sandwiches, breakfast items and then a beautiful stir fry dish.  Wow this guy is good I said.  He was fast, organized and clean.  He was able to cook on the flat top while making a sandwich at the same time.  Everything coming out fast without any drama.  He was a one man cooking machine that I would love to have in my kitchen if I had one.  I ordered a glass of wine and was pleased to see a big pour into a large glass.  Just what was needed to put me to sleep after the long flight.  I ordered a Turkey, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato and Avocado Sandwich.  It came with a nice salad.  I asked the waitress if they had a Balsamic Dressing and she said "yes".  She brought me oil and vinegar to mix myself.  The vinegar turned out to be good so I enjoyed the salad and did not say a word.  My sandwich was delicious.  Large slices of Avocado with crisp lettuce, tomato and slices of turkey and bacon.  No complaints here.  It hit the spot.  There were a few Asian inspired dishes on the menu including a Spicy Beef Stir Fry.  We ordered it and were pleasantly surprised to find that it was really good.  Not too spicy but the flavor of the sauce, meat and peppers really came through.  Great dish served with a huge portion of white rice.  We liked Leann's and will visit again.  In fact, I think we will stay at the Red Roof Inn because they have free parking and internet.  These two items will cost you about $33 more at the Hilton.  This more than pays for a dinner at Leann's.
