We purchased a bunch of takeout from the Main Street Grill in Cambria. This is a kind of Sports Bar/BBQ place that serves the local community and tourists/travelers driving on Highway 1 in Central California. The Grill is basically two sections. One side is a huge bar and tables and the other is a large takeout counter. There are several wide screens above the bar playing sports programming. You order at the counter and beware, this place is cash only. No credit cards or checks. I was ordering for a large group so I had to dig deep to cover this one. I decided we would order a bunch of different items and eat Family Style so everyone could enjoy a variety of flavors. We started with the Main Street Grill "Pig" Sandwich. This is a favorite among family and some people will not leave Cambria without enjoying at least one Pig Sandwich. The Pig Sandwich ($7) is nothing but meat on a bun. This is good meat. Seasoned BBQ pork shredded and covered in BBQ sauce on a buttered bun. You can taste the pork, BBQ Sauce and the bun. Perfect combination. I liked the Tri Tip Steak Sandwich ($8.79) a little better. This again was just meat on a bun. Layer after layer of smoked Tri Tip placed on the buttered and grilled bun. I added a little BBQ Sauce and "Bam" this was the bomb. The flavor of the meat really comes through in this sandwich. With about six layers of meat, this bad boy can serve two people. The Rack of Pork Ribs ($19.99) was also a favorite. Sweet smoked ribs served with BBQ Sauce on the side. I loved these ribs. The Rack of Beef Ribs ($19.99) were large and meaty but I thought the Pork Ribs had a bit more flavor and less fat. Everyone loved the Onion Rings ($6.29). The rings were large and actually heated up nicely for leftovers the next day. The French Fries ($4.09) played second fiddle to the Onion Rings. Everyone went for the Onion Rings and left the fries for the trash can. Not saying they were bad, but everyone just wanted the Onion Rings. We had the Cobb Salad with Shredded Chicken ($9.59). This was large and enough to share among the family. The Garlic Bread ($1.99) was ordered but turned out to be the same as the buns for the sandwiches so it was not eaten to quickly. The Main Street Grill serves up really good BBQ. I am looking forward to returning for the Tri Tip Steak Sandwich and BBQ Pork Ribs. Filling up my wallet too so I can pay the all cash tab.
