Enjoyed a nice stay at the Courtyard Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel.  I have been staying here on business for many years and believe me this hotel has never been better.  Marriott has raised the bar in Kona by renovating the rooms and all of the common areas.  I especially like the new portrait exhibit right off the main lobby.  There are dozens and dozens of beautiful paintings of the Hawaiian Monarchy and the Kings and Queens who once ruled these beautiful Islands.  This is one of the finest collections of Hawaiian art that I have seen in Hawaii.  I passed by the paintings in a rush at first not really noticing what they were all about.  Trying to relax, I went back and slowly walked through the gallery taking in each and every painting.  I was impressed.  This is really a great collection of portraits and paintings.  I am posting a few photos here that I took with my IPhone.  Back to the hotel...the rooms have been renovated and they are very clean and comfortable.  The staff seems to care now and the service at the front desk was better than ever before.  The hotel is located at the beginning of what is Downtown Kona and the main tourist center on Alii Drive.  You can walk to shops and restaurants and shopping centers are just blocks away.  There is a great pool bar where you can enjoy a meal or just a few cold drinks.  The hotel restaurant has been completely remolded and now features both indoor and outdoor seating near the white sandy beach in front of the property.
