I think Wailea is one of the most beautiful and best places to stay on Maui.  The beaches are nice, the hotels are top notch and there are dozens of good restaurants scattered throughout this resort community.  Oh....and the golf is great too.  Wailea is blessed with incredible weather and a location that is magnificent.  The three golf courses here are among the best in Hawaii.  We played the Gold Course at Wailea which in the past was home to the Seniors Skins Game.  The Robert Trent Jones II designed course was listed as one of the best new courses in America when it opened in 1994.  We loved the course but the service here really sucked.  The employees in the Pro Shop rarely smiled and were quite cold.  They acted as if they were doing you a favor to ring you up.  It gets worse when you walk out to the Starters table.  There were at least eight guys who work for the club standing around talking.  Our group of four was not greeted at any time by any of these guys.  We walked past them to the bathroom and not one looked at us or said a word.  We were there for an hour before tee time and these guys did nothing.  Nothing to help us figure out how to get to the driving range and nothing to welcome us or engage us.  Worst service of any resort I have played in Hawaii.  Was just as bad when we got back after shooting 18 holes.  We pulled up to park our carts and the guys did nothing.  One person brought out cold towels but said nothing.  Just pointed the tray in our direction.  My friend who usually tips heavily was disgusted and grabbed his bag and left nothing.  Service here is a joke and management should figure out why they are paying these guys to stand around and feel important.  Equally disgusting is the bathroom.  The mens stall was dirty and the floor and walls were covered in crap.  You would expect more at a place where the green fee is around $200 per person.  I love the course but have no interest in returning to the morons that run this place.
