I loved Motown the Musical on Broadway.  The cast is explosive and delivers the music of Motown via a great story about the career of Motown Founder Berry Gordy. From his days as a young kid growing up in Detroit to a Superstar existence in Los Angeles representing some of the greatest talents in music history.  Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson and the Supremes.  Gordy's love interest through most of the play is Diana Ross and the gal playing Diana delivers a powerful range of songs that really bring the house down.  Gordy also sings and he delivers a solo performance at the end of the show that made me want to stand up and cheer.  Amazing performance and song.  The story of Gordy coming up through the ranks and making it big takes a turn when many of his biggest artists are loured away by larger record labels with more money.  Motown is on the verge of bankruptcy and Gordy comes close to giving up.  Loved the story and music!

Enjoyed a mini food tour of our own at Chelsea Market in New York.  This is the home of the Food Network and a great place to eat, drink, people watch and relax.  The place seems like an underground cavern with twisting corridors that lead to dozens of restaurants and shops that all have something to do with food.  There is even a supermarket with tons of fresh vegetables and fruits.  You can eat most anything here and we did our best to sample a few of the restaurants.  Started with a small bottle of wine procured at the Chelsea Wine Vault.  This is a great little wine shop that will open your bottle and provide glasses so you can enjoy your wine while eating in the market.  You can walk anywhere in the market and drink your wine at any of the establishments.  I grabbed a mini bottle of Cabernet and two plastic glasses and was off on yet another food adventure.  Our first stop was Dickson's Farmstand Meats where they serve up local and natural meats in a Butcher Shop plus serve up some pretty good food.  We tried the Carne Enchilada Torta ($11).  Adobo Smoked Pork, Guacamole and Refried Beans.  Loved the sandwich but really wanted more pork and refried beans.  Sandwich was a bit thin for $11.  The House Made Hot Dog with Preserved Chilies and Kewpie Mayo ($5.50) was the bomb.  The Hot dog had a nice skin and crunch plus a ton of flavor.  Great Dog!  Our next stop was Los Tacos No. 1.  I had the Carne Asada Taco ($3.50) on a Corn Tortilla.  This Taco was terrific.  Tasted like the tacos I would get in Tijuana at a cart on Avenue Revolution.  These are the type of Carne Asada Tacos that I crave and cannot get in Hawaii.  The flavor and freshness were incredible.  My friend tried the Adobado Taco ($3.00) and said the same as me.  Terrific and very tasty.  Loved these tacos and will put this on my New York favorites list.  Moving right along we ended up at The Lobster Place Seafood Market.  This is a huge fish market/restaurant that served up the best Lobster Roll I have ever had.  The Lobster Roll ($16.95) was nothing but meat.  Sweet, cold and buttery lobster meat on a perfectly grilled roll.  This sandwich is Lobster Heaven and really delivered the lobster taste that I love.  We moved on and came upon a Thai restaurant and Vietnamese restaurant.  Eat more we asked ourselves.  I wanted to but just couldn't eat another bite.  I would love to spend several days grazing Chelsea Market.  This is a little gem that should not be missed if you love food and people watching.

Ran into Azalea after watching a play on Broadway.  Saw that it was an Italian restaurant and we hustled inside to take refuge from the biter cold New York night.  We were happily greeted by an a male wait staff that was eager to serve us.  They presented specials verbally and made recommendations of house favorites.  We were here for fresh pasta and ordered a side of pasta filled with three cheeses and topped with tomato sauce.  The dish was light and delicious.  Followed this up with an order of Scallops.  They were good but not great.  I enjoyed the Fettuccine Bolognese and my friend had the Pappardelle with Braised Veal.  Both dishes were excellent and so was the service.  I told the waiter that we loved the service and he quickly asked "what about the food".  Great too we said as we bundled up to go outside and brave the cold.  I liked our visit here and would not hesitate to return.
