Ask me what my favorite Italian restaurant is in San Francisco and I will tell you Ristorante Milano with a big smile.  I love this place.  Always fresh and delicious.  Over the years I have met the owner Aldo several times and he is always a gentlemen and always smiling.  The key to Milano is that everything is fresh and homemade.  The pasta here is made fresh daily and that is a big key to why I love Milano.  The preparations are simple using the freshest local ingredients.  The Calamari is one of my favorite dishes on the planet.  Aldo uses the freshest local Calamari and the flavor is unreal.  The Fettucine al Sugu di Carne alla Milanese is also one of my favorite pasta dishes ever.  I never order Gnocchi at Italian restaurants because it is never made fresh and most often disappoints.  At Milano we always order the Gnocchi and love it.  Fresh pasta with a light tomato sauce and basil.  Oh so perfect and delicious.  We also always order the fresh Ravioli at Milano.  The Butternut Squash Ravioli here is do die for if it is on the menu.  On this visit we enjoyed a sausage Ravioli and it was amazing.  We ate Family Style at Milano so everyone could enjoy the many flavors on the menu.  The Fresh Fish and Veal dishes were also excellent as were the Sardines.  I am not kidding you.. everything was great.  Always one of the best meals of my life at Milano.
