THE CHURCH OF THE SAVIOR ON SPILLED BLOOD

THE CHURCH OF THE SAVIOR ON SPILLED BLOOD
ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA

The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood was built on the site of the March 1881 murder of Emperor Alexander II.  The church was built in the fashion of the 16th century Moscow region churches in accordance with he designs of architect Alfred Parland.  This place is so incredible and a definite place to visit when in St. Petersburg.

THE ROYAL SUMMER ESTATE OF CATHERINE PALACE

THE ROYAL SUMMER ESTATE OF CATHERINE PALACE

The Royal Summer Estate of Catherine Palace located in Tsar's Village was originally presented to Peter the Great to his second wife, Catherine I, in early 18th century.  A few decades later the palace was rebuilt to its present appearance following the orders of the royal daughter, Elizabeth I.  The new Late Baroque structure was designed by Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli and is home to some of Europe's most extravagant interiors, including the famous Amber Room.  This place is cool.  Really cool.
