ANTONIO'S NEW YORK PIZZERIA
HONOLULU, HAWAII
We have not been back to Antonio's for over five years because we had some really rude service and really greasy pizza. I always want to try it again but the wife says "no way". Well, with the wife safely hanging out with her mom for the day I took my daughter to try not the pizza but a New York Hoagie Sandwich. Service was the same as I remember. Non existent. You walk up to the counter and the guy just stares and writes down your order. The lady in front of us told him that the ice dispenser for the soda machine was broken and there was no ice. That is right he said it does not work. That was it. Suffice to say we all had warm drinks. My daughter ordered the Guido Hoagie ($7.49). This was a good sized sandwich with really fresh and chewy bread. Filled with Salami and Pepperoni and topped with lettuce, tomato, cheese, Italian Dressing and some Parmesan cheese. She loved it but could only finish half. I ordered the Deluxe Hoagie ($7.49) and was impressed with the many layers of salami, pepperoni and ham. Good flavor and very filling. Just wish they would have added some onions. Next time I will order with onions. It is impossible to get a decent Hoagie in Hawaii. Antonio's did a good job and I will return again. UPDATE: ANTONIO'S WENT OUT OF BUSINESS IN LATE 2011.
