Another day trip to Maui and another Beach Salad at Sammy's Beach Bar & Grill at the Kahului airport.  This time I ordered the salad with fresh Ono.  Wow...the fish was so fresh and  delicious.  So good in fact I took time to compliment the cooks working on the line.  Like Sammy himself, this salad rocks!

I don't spend much time on the Windward side of Oahu but had to go there to have my car detailed.  The shop said it would take over an hour so I walked to the Windward Mall.  Don't think I have ever been in this mall.  Headed to the Food Court and the Lemongrass Kitchen caught my eye.  Ordered a Pork Bahn Mi from a nice gentlemen who seemed like the owner because he cared about customer service.  He personally made the sandwich, wrapped it up and offered me a bag and a big thank you.  Sandwich was good.

Was difficult to find Nami Kaze as the building looks empty from the outside and there is no sign.  The windows are covered and there is a lock box on the door.  We had almost given up and my Wife was walking around the building when I decided to try opening the front door.  It opened and low and behold there was a bustling restaurant inside.  We were greeted and seated and a waitress immediately came to the table and showed us how to order.  You order from an app that has photos, prices and descriptions of each dish.  You add want you want to the order and then order and pay from the app.  You can go back and order more anytime during your meal.  Ordering drinks is the same process.  When you want a refill you just order again on the app.  The system works really well and it is really easy to pay at the end.  Only thing is that you cannot control the order of how the food will come to the table.  For example we ordered the Roasted Beets first and it came last after all the other appetizers and entrees.  Dishes here are meant to be shared so we tried quite a few.  Nothing really impressed us like we expected from all the great reviews.  Did like the Black Cod and Spicy Green Beans best.

I had never heard of Broke Da Mouth Grindz in Kona but a co-worker said he had to go here.  Evidently this place got a cult like following after being featured on the Food Channel and Diners, Drive-In's and Dives.  They are well known for the Furakake Chicken which two people ordered and loved (I failed to get a photo).  I ordered the Spicy BBQ Chicken and they said they were out for the day.  This was right when they opened too.  I decided to go with the BBQ Beef Bul Go Gi with sides of Corn and Cucumbers.  The Beef was good.  A bit too sweet for my liking.  I hated the Cucumbers and did not care for the corn.  Gave it all away.  This place is super hot (no air conditioning) and is part takeout and part t-shirt shop.  Not gonna dog this place but want to go back and try some different dishes.  Staff was friendly but it does take a little while to get your food.

Returned home from a long day in Kona and enjoyed this delicious, light and very satisfying dinner.  This was so good and perfect!

Followed up Taco Tuesday with Tostada Wednesday at Casa de Santos.  Spicy Refried Beans topped with Seasoned Beef, Lettuce, Cheese, Pico de Gallo and Sour Cream.  Lots of Hot Sauce and A La Madre Low Carb Tortillas of course!

Looking through the latest edition of Food & Wine Magazine and saw a photo and recipe for Chicken Cacciatore.  Checked the kitchen and we had all of the ingredients plus some leftover Linguine.  Followed the recipe and it came out looking just like the photo in the magazine.  Taste was good but not great.  Needed a little something more to kick the flavor up.

We were in Waikiki over the weekend and decided to try the re-opened Herringbone for lunch.   While the food missed the mark in some cases, we did enjoy the champagne.  We started with Oysters which were pretty tasty.  No complaints there except they are $5 each.  The Smoked Trout Caesar Salad was presented well but I never tasted the Smoke Trout and it was bland.  I went with the Crab Benedict with Tomato in place of the hash browns.  Flavor was good but there was only two tiny pieces of crab in the dish.  Should not be able to call this a Crab Benedict.  Total disappointment.  My friend ordered the Lobster Roll.  He asked me to taste the Cole Slaw served with it because he said it was terrible.  I took a bite and it really was the worst Cole Slaw ever.  The Lobster Roll looked great but my friend said it was just "ok".

My Wife went with the Dry Aged Burger.  The beef was delicious but was it worth $23?  The Signature Chocolate Mousse was delicious and worth the carbs.  Brunch here gets a failing grade for me.  Expensive and lacking flavor.  Service was good though.

I have been eating a lot less pasta over the past year to stay low carb.  Still get the cravings and on this day I was craving Linguine with Clam Sauce.  Decided to create this little dish that was totally worth the carbs!
