LE SULLY RESTAURANT - TAHITI

LE SULLY RESTAURANT

Enjoyed another two hour lunch in Papeete.  Le Sully delivered on many levels and I would certainly return to eat here again.  While the staff speaks mostly French, the employees tried to understand our English and we made it through ordering with the help of a large chalk board that was brought to our table.  The hand written Chef Specials were in French but with the help of our waitress we were able to put in our order quite easily.  Started with a glass of Chardonnay wine which will set you back around $16 here.  Most wines in Papeete run $12-$18 per glass and the majority are French. This glass was sharp and delicious.  The meal began with a complimentary dish of Tuna with a hint of Fois Gras I think.  It was delicious when spread on the fresh baked bread.  My Daughter ate it like Ice Cream.  Everyone enjoyed the Tuna spread.  The Raw Tuna Carpaccio (2100 CFP) or around $21
was incredible.  Ultra thin sliced fresh tuna coated in Truffle Oil and shaved Truffle.  If you like Truffles and Sashimi this is the dish for you.  Loved it!   The Serrano Ham with Pickles (2100 CFP) was a large platter of ham that was more than enough for a party of three.  I wrapped the pickles with ham and loved it.  My Daughter loved the salad that accompanied the dish.  I ordered the Raviolis De Langoustines (3150 CFP).  Fresh pasta stuffed with Lobster in very delicate pillows of pasta.  This dish was ultra light and delicious.  The Duo De Saumon Et Crevettes (3250 CFP) was a Salmon dish that my Wife said lacked flavor.  She did not really care of the dish.  My Daughter went for the Tournedos Au Foie Gras De Can (3880 CFP) and was not disappointed.  She loved it and so did I.  The beef was seasoned and cooked to a perfect medium rare.  The large piece of Foie Gras was amazing.  Like butter with so much flavor.  Coupled with the steak you have one of the best dishes we enjoyed in Tahiti.  For dessert we went for Feuillantine Au Chocolat (1200 CFP).  Had no idea what to expect but we did understand Chocolat so we ordered it.  Turned out to be one of the best Chocolate Cakes ever.  A rich creamy chocolate inside with a dark chocolate coating.  So delicious.  As we enjoyed the dessert the Chef/Owner approached our table to see if we enjoyed the meal.
"Yes" it was delicious we said in English.  The Chef spoke French but communicated with us in English as he told me this is his second restaurant with the first being Le Souffle where we had dined earlier in our trip.  I told him we loved both of his restaurants.  Right about then a complimentary Chocolate Mousse was brought to our table.   The creamy chocolate was delicious so I relaxed and enjoyed a nice glass of Pinot Noir wine for another $16.  This was a very relaxed and delicious meal in a small little gem in Papeete.  The restaurant is tiny with only about 8 tables and room for 20 people.  Recommend that you make a reservation as we showed up for lunch one day and could not get a seat.  During our meal we watched as several couples entered to dine and were told there was no more seating for the afternoon.  Make a reservation and enjoy your time at Le Sully.
