NATHAN'S HOT DOGS
CONEY ISLAND, NY
It has always been a dream to visit the original Nathan's Hot Dog Stand in Coney Island. This is the home of the Nathan Hot Dog and the World Hot Dog Eating Competition. I cannot believe that Joey Chestnut at 68 of these dogs in one sitting. I had two and was stuffed for the day. One regular Dog with just mustard and one Regular Dog with grilled onions and relish. The Dogs are about $2.75 each and they are delicious. The Nathan Dog has a snap when you bit it. Full of flavor too. Just a great hot dog. It was worth the 45 minute ride on the subway to Coney Island. There were only a handful of people in the restaurant. Mostly firefighters, policeman and EMS. Not too many people make their way to Coney Island in the winter. It is a summer destination. We checked out the boardwalk and rides. Very old and a little run down. The beach was surprisingly nice.
