Wow....this was one of the best museum tours of our entire families lives.  We booked our tour through Viator.com and were so happy we did (link above).  The Viator guide was named Rebecca who was a Art/History major from Boston now living in Rome.  Rebecca brought the history and art at Borghese to life with her passion, anecdotes and descriptions of each painting and sculpture.  We were happily taken into the lives of great artists like Bernini and Raphael and learned the history of the Borghese family and their ties with many Popes and the Vatican.  This was a true adventure in art, sculpture and history thanks to our tour guide.  I would normally run through a place like this not knowing what I was looking at.  Having an experienced and knowledgeable guide really made a difference.  If you visit the Borghese in Rome, I highly recommend you book the Viator.com tour and pray you get Rebecca as your guide.  My 13 year old daughter who is not a fan about museums said this was the best museum tour ever because of the stories that were told about each piece of art.  We are all fans of Bernini and now look forward to learning more about his life and art.

The Galleria Borghese is located in the heart of Rome in a great park that should not be missed.  The park is beautiful and offers great views of the city.  You can access the park by walking up the Spanish Steps and turning right.  You will be amazed by this huge greenbelt that is very pedestrian friendly.  You can rent bikes, golf carts and Segway's or take a small train ride through the park.  The Galleria Borghese sits within the park and overs a treasure trove of masterpieces as Bernini's Apollo and Daphne, Titian's Sacred and Profane Love.  Raphael's Desposition and Caravaggio's Jerome are among other works not to be missed.
Travel Tip:  Book your tour for Borghese in advance and go as early in the morning as possible to avoid the crowds.  We booked our tour through Viator.com and it was fantastic.
