What does an owner of a bar in Anchorage Alaska do in the winter? Travels to Hawaii of course and opens another bar on the warm Kona coast. Humpy's is a large two story bar that sits directly across from the ocean on Alii Drive in Kona. With 36 beers on tap this is a destination for beer lovers and people who enjoy good food, lively atmosphere and an ocean view. We had a pretty good server who kept our drinks and food coming at a pretty good pace. Started with the Teriyaki Prime Rib ($5.00). This Happy Hour Special is certainly worth the $5. Nice piece of meat marinated perfectly. The Civiche is also $5.00 during Happy Hour. Fresh pieces of fish served with tortilla chips. The Calamari ($11.99) was delicious and the strips were large and meaty. Only wish these were served with cocktail sauce rather than the tarter sauce. The Buffalo Wings ($11.99) hit the mark for me. Nice and spicy! The Steamed Clams ($14.99) surprised me because they were covered in cheese and sauce. Looked like a mess but tasted oh so good. The clams were small but meaty. These little babies were delicious. I ordered the Humpy's Original Fish Tacos ($15.99) and they were huge. The Cajun spiced fish was cooked perfectly and the tacos were awesome. So big though that I barely finished one of them. These are one of the better Fish Tacos I have had in Hawaii and would go back to Humpy's to enjoy these again. Pretty much everything we tried here was decent. I liked the food and view and will return again. Really want to try the Smoked Marlin Dip and Salmon Cakes next time.
