NORTH KOREAN BORDER
SOUTH KOREA
Probably the coolest thing we did in South Korea was visiting an active South Korean military base on the border with North Korea. We had military police with us every second in and out of our vehicle and we were not permitted to take photographs of the base or of North Korea. Photos were limited to what the military police would allow. We went up to the border that is heavily fortified 24 hours a day. While we could see North Korea right across the fence, we could not take pictures. The bunker we are in below is on the front line. The area around the base and in North Korea is filled with thousands of land mines so we were briefed to not go near these areas.
