Was not too impressed with the service or food at Eating House 1849.  While I love Roy Yamaguchi and Roy's restaurant, this new venture missed the mark with me.  Love the feel, architecture and outdoor seating which was perfect on this early evening dinner.  Started with a crisp glass of chardonnay which I enjoyed at the bar while waiting for my friend.  Even though the bar was completely empty, the bartender did not seem to care about his only guest - Me.  Guy had the personality of a piece of dry wood and did nothing to make me feel welcome.  Was happy to be seating by the hostess at a nice table outside overlooking the Market Place.  Within seconds a complimentary bowl of seasoned Edamame was brought to the table.  Our waiter was a bit intimidating with a serious look and hard stare.  Not sure how he got a job here.  We ordered a drink and looked over the menu for a few minutes while the sunset and sky darkened a bit.  A server approached the table with a small plate of BBQ Ribs and told us that they were compliments of the restaurant.  Awesome I thought this is great.  The ribs were absolutely delicious.  Actually the best thing we ate this night.  The Portuguese Paella ($28) was ok but just did not hit the mark on flavor.  Something seemed to be missing in this dish and I probably would not order again.  The Furikake Island Ahi ($38) was not that great and I did not like cold noodles with a warm fish.  Also $38 for a small piece of fish seemed a bit expensive.  While I was not impressed with Eating House 1849 I would return to enjoy a cocktail and pupu's at the outside lanai.  Really liked the environment and feeling here.
