FUNCHAL, MADEIRA - PORTUGAL
Funchal is the capital of the Portuguese Island of Madeira, which is situated some 250 miles from North Africa amidst the warm waters of the Gulf Stream. The Island is lush and mountainous with a mild, sunny climate conductive to the growth of many varieties of exotic plants and trees which can be seen blooming in every direction. We ended our tour with a stop at a winery that makes the world famous Madeira wines. The wine is too sweet for me so we left after just a sip.
