USA VOLLEYBALL VS TEAM CHINA
HONOLULU, HAWAII
Enjoyed a great night of volleyball at the Stan Sheriff Center on the campus of University of Hawaii.
The United States Olympic Gold Medal winning team played the National Team from China. Unfortunately China won the match in straight sets but we enjoyed a VIP Hospitality Suite that allowed us to get up close and personal with two of volleyball's national icons. Coach Karch Kiraly from the United States and Coach Lang Ping from China. Both Olympic Gold Medal winners on the court as players and off the court as coaches. Karch Kiraly is a legend in U.S. volleyball and so is Lang Ping in China. We enjoyed a buffet catered by Panda Chinese Food prior to the game along with a pre game talk by Coach Kiraly. The Coach is positive, competitive and very straightforward about approach to the game and desire to win. He is a strategist of the game and very focused. Lang Ping surprised everyone in the room with her humor. When asked why many of the Chinese players are listed at 6' 4" when clearly there are taller players on the team she replied "we are not that good at math". So refreshing to see a National Icon like Lang Ping so relaxed and funny. After her brief talk most of the Chinese people attending this event lined up for autographs like they were meeting Michael Jordan. Hey we got her to sign too!
