Truffles, Caviar and Champagne..... Not a bad way to spend an evening dining at Margotto Hawaii. The food and service here is excellent but it comes with a steep price. We went with Chef's Tasting Menu and added Truffles, Caviar, Wagyu and the Premium Wine Pairing. The restaurant manager called me ahead of our reservation to confirm our menu and what upgrades we wanted to order. Highly recommend going with the Premium Wine Pairing as the wines were good and the Sommelier was engaging and fun. A great start to the evening was when the Owner of the restaurant came to our table and introduced himself. He told us a bit of history of his life and the restaurant which is the second location after Tokyo, Japan. He made us feel comfortable and welcome which was very nice. After a glass of champagne, the food started rolling and once it started it never stopped. Really never a dull moment waiting for the next course. I loved every dish served but the Sunny Side Up Toast, Pasta and Wagyu were my favorites. The Wagyu was cooked to perfection and one of the best steaks of my life. The simple Pasta with Butter and Parmesan was elevated with a nice covering of Truffles which are shaved at the table. Everyone at the table wanted more. The Sunny Side Up Toast was covered in Truffles and the egg yolk and beef sauce made you want to lick the plate. And we did with a piece of bread to soak up every drop. The Scallop was also cooked perfectly and served with a delicious sauce that everyone cleaned off their plates. Delicious! What surprised me most was how much everyone including myself loved the Akitakomachi. Simply rice and egg with Truffle shavings. This was perfect after all of the wine :). This was a special dinner and one that I would definitely like to have again many times over.
