Hy's Steak House in Waikiki is under renovation until maybe June of 2024. In the meantime, they are doing a Hy's Pop Up at La Vie twice a week. While they attempt the Hy's experience with the waiters and table side preparations, I found this nothing close to the original Hy's. Prices are high and my food came out cold. Ordered a Filet Mignon medium rare and it came out more medium. Cold and hard to cut with a knife. Not much flavor either. Total joke to get what looked like frozen vegetables on the plate that were not seasoned. The Potato was cold too and the butter would not melt. Normally you get a huge delicious crunchy potato skin at a Steak House. Don't think they seasoned the potato or skin. This tasted like a third grader cooked it and even with all the condiments did not impress. My Wife enjoyed the Beef Wellington with French Fries. I tasted it and it was really good. Cherries Jubilee was a show but the final result was Vanilla Ice Cream with some Cherries. Didn't get much other flavors. Total disappointment for the price. I would wait until Hy's opens again and not bother with the Pop Up.
