Wow...what a dinner for some visiting guests.  Steak, Lobster, King Crab and our favorite appetizers.  My Wife absolutely nailed this dinner with flavors and presentations.  I was only responsible for the appetizers which may I say...were incredible.

Ono is a meaty white fish that has a delicate flavor.  Great for grilling or baking.  Secret is not to overcook the fish so it stays moist.  I paired this super fresh Ono with a sauce made with Garlic, Shallots, White Wine, Chicken Stock, Butter, Salt, Pepper and some Truffle Butter.

Topped with Fried Shallots which are delicious.

APPETIZER AT HOME

I love Ahi Sashimi and Seared Ahi.  When it is fresh like we get in Hawaii, there is no better appetizer.  For Seared Ahi, I dust the Ahi block in Cajun Seasoning and then sear it in Olive Oil for about 10 seconds per side.  Thats it!  Serve with a mixture of Shoyu and Wasabi.  I often add a little Honey, Dijon Mustard and Sesame Seed Oil to the mixture to really kick up the flavor of the sauce.

MC DONALDS FILET O' FISH PROTEIN STYLE

LUNCH AT HOME

Took the basic McDonalds Filet O' Fish and made it protein style by removing the bun and replacing it with lettuce.  The process is easy but McDonalds puts the cheese on the bun and it does not come off easily.  Hey I liked my low carb Filet O' Fish.

My Wife makes the best Steaks and we are so lucky to enjoy these great meals at home.  As good as any Steakhouse in Hawaii.  These Ribeyes were absolutely delicious!

When I saw Birria Tacos on Guieb Cafe Specials Menu I was surprised.  What is a Filipino owned restaurant doing cooking Birria Tacos?  No way they could pull this off I thought.  Once again Guieb surprised me as these Tacos were really good and probably the best of three different Birria Tacos we have tried lately.  These Tacos were meaty, cheesy and just a hint spicy.  Loved the fresh Cilantro and Red Onion. The Consume was flavorful and added nice flavor to the meat, cheese and tortilla.  Nice portions too as I could only eat two of the three Tacos.  These were really good and I would not hesitate to order them again.

Domo Cafe just recently opened in Kahala so we decided to give it a try.  Entered to find what looked like a hard working family serving takeout only due to COVID.  Drives me nuts that small restaurants like this cannot have inside dining with social distancing.  Since I am eating low carb, I went for a Poke Salad rather than a Bowl with Rice.  The Ahi Poke comes standard and Spicy.  I asked the cashier if the Spicy version was made with Mayonnaise.  She said yes but then totally surprised me by saying they can do spicy without the mayo.  This is the first time ever in Hawaii I have seen this done so I ordered the Spicy Ahi Domo Salad ($11.95) with no mayo.  Absolutely loved the Poke Salad with crisp Romaine Lettuce and not the fufu Spring Mix.  Great tasting dressing too. My Wife enjoyed the Unagi with Ebi Bento ($12.95).  She was impressed with the quality and flavors plus really liked the Miso Soup too.  This was a great lunch and Domo Cafe will now be one of our "go to" spots for Poke and a little Sushi.  Cannot wait to return and support this local small business.

CPK got an "F" for service on this order but the food received an "A".  We called in the order to the Kahala location and the gal on the phone repeated our order, took our name and phone number.  We asked to pay with a credit card over the phone and she said they could not take credit cards over the phone.  This was a bummer because our Daughter was at the Mall and ready to pick up the food.  She went to the Pick-Up Window and gave our name and repeated the order at the cashiers request.  The cashier said they did not have an order under our name or for the food that we ordered on the phone.  My Daughter reordered and had to wait even longer.  I ordered the BBQ Chicken Pizza with Cauliflower Crust to reduce my carb intake.  Damn this is the second time I have had the Cauliflower Crust and it is great.  Almost cannot tell it is made from Cauliflower.  Also enjoyed the Wedge Salad which they do really well with thick cut bacon and a delicious Blue Cheese Dressing.  Delicious low carb takeout!

Absolutely loved our meal at Tanaka of Tokyo.  The food, show and service were excellent.

Everything was good here from the chilled Salad to the Miso Soup, Appetizers, Vegetables, Fried Rice and Vegetables.  Simple preparations on the flattop table side grill yeilds some great flavors on the plate.  We brought our own Chocolate Mousse Cake from the Kahala Hotel because the entire family loves it. What a great dinner to celebrate my Wife's birthday with some of her family members.  Everyone loved the food and we had a lot of leftovers to take home.
