It's official. Island Vintage Wine Bar is one of our favorite restaurants on Oahu. Absolutely love this place. The food is top quality, fresh, beautiful and delicious. We started with he Truffle Brie which is one of our favorite cheese plates ever. Toasted Bread, Fig Jam, Honey, Apple and Truffle Brie. The flavor combination is amazing. Next up was the Beet Salad with fresh Beets, Tomato, Avocado, Feta Cheese and a Hummus spread. Served with a thick vinaigrette. Delicious. The Spicy Ahi Poke was one of the best Poke dishes we have ever tasted. The perfect amount of heat, onions, avocado, sea asparagus and no mayonnaise. Loved it! This was my fifth visit here and everything I have eaten has been really good. So good in fact, I asked to thank the Chef and the Kitchen Manager came to our table and chatted about the food and preparation. Amazing story of how a Korean family started with a coffee stand and 17 years later has two rocking great restaurants in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.

SALMON WITH HOLLANDAISE SAUCE
DINNER AT HOME
One of my favorite dinners of all time is Salmon with Hollandaise Sauce. I discovered this dish over 30 years ago at the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel. They served this for breakfast and I feel in love with it. Ate it every day while staying at the hotel. We have been making it at home ever since. Always delicious and satisfying. This was really good because we used Wild Alaskan Salmon that was brought back from Alaska by our friends.

SMOKED MARLIN
DINNER AT HOME
Over 25 years ago I was served Smoked Marlin similar to this at a hotel pool bar in Bali. I fell in love with the dish back then and have been making it ever since in several variations. I toast the bread with Garlic Spread and Butter and then top with Horseradish, Smoked Marlin, Capers and Red Onion. Mind blowing delicious!

Craving Tacos and and Enchilada so we hit Jose's for some lunch. Always amazed when I walk in here as it has not changed in 30 years. I like the Shredded Beef Tacos and Chicken Enchilada. It's no Javier's, but what the heck were in Hawaii.

Blessed to work for a company that has incredible Customers, Employees and Vendors. We also give back to the community in some big ways. Each year we do a schedule of events to bring our vendors together with our customers on Oahu, Maui and the Big Island. This year we cancelled the Maui Vendor Fair and in its place, we spent the day volunteering in Lahaina. Truly one of the most meaningful and happy experiences of my life. Our Kona and Oahu Vendor Fairs went on as planned plus we had the best golf tournament of the year to raise money for the University of Hawaii Cancer Center. Enjoyed a delicious breakfast and several bottles of bubbles at the Wynn in Las Vegas, After breakfast we jumped in the adjacent pool and enjoyed more bubbles and a few hours in the sun. What a fun time!

I enjoyed the Lip Smacking Foodie Tour in Las Vegas. Started off a bit bad as their rep sent us to the Downtown location. We arrived and found a group of people standing in a courtyard of a local restaurant. The rep went around and checked everyone in and then when he got to us, he said something was wrong. He got on the phone and in minutes was back saying that our tour started at the Aria Resort. Motha F, we just took a cab ride from the Aria to go downtown. We had to grab another cab and go back to where we started which was the Aria. Arrived at Javiar's to find our group done eating. Our food was on the table and they allowed us a few minutes to devour the incredible Enchildas before whisking us off to the next location which was also at the Aria. Turns out the entire group was from Hawaii so we made some new friends quite quickly. Next up was Julian Serrano where we enjoyed some nice appetizers and Paella. Food here was good but not great. I kept thinking about those Enchiladas at Javier's. The highlight was the last stop at Mastro's Ocean Club. Beautiful venue where we enjoyed a delicious Caprese Salad, Steak and an incredible selection of desserts. All delicious. We ended up sitting at Mastro's after the tour ended and enjoyed several glasses of vino. Our guide was great and I would recommend this tour. Price is $200 per person.
