RONNIE'S KITCHEN
SAND ISLAND
HONOLULU, HAWAII
Ronnie's Kitchen is two for four with me. Have eaten lunch here four times. Loved the first two visits but was disappointed with the last two. Right now you can get in and out in minutes for lunch, but trust me this will change once the word gets out on how good the food is. I tried the French Dip Sandwich ($7) and Philadelphia Cheese Steak. Both were served on a buttered and toasted roll that was delicious. Really liked the French Dip. The buttered roll, thinly sliced beef and Au Jus all worked in harmony to provide great flavor and texture. This is a really good sandwich for the price. I really like the French Fries at Ronnie's too. Thinly cut and crunchy. The first time I visited they were darker and crunchier which I prefer. Rarely will I finish all the fries on a plate. At Ronnie's I do.
UPDATE: Visited Ronnie's again and had the Fresh Fish Plate ($7) with all salad in place of rice. The fish was thin and very dry. Actually hard. Not too happy with this dish.
UPDATE: Visited again and ordered the Hot Pastrami Sandwich ($7). Could not believe that they drenched both sides of the bread in mayonnaise. The mayo was all over the place. Could not eat the second half of the sandwich. Fries this time were limp. Not crunchy like before.
UPDATE: Back again. Tried the Daily Fresh Fish Special. Ahi Tuna with Cajun Spices ($6.50). Requested Medium Rare and they hit it out of the park. Ahi was cooked to perfection and delicious.
UPDATE: Tried the Chicken Plate ($6.50). Nice portion of Chicken Thighs but really lacking any flavor.
UPDATE: Back again to try the Cheeseburger ($6.25). Served on a sandwich roll. Not the best burger in town. Especially for $6.25.
