I did not know that the Moanalua Golf Club existed when my friends told me to meet them there for a round of golf. Turns out this is a 9 hole course just minutes from Downtown Honolulu. You play the 9 holes twice from different tees to make a round of 18 holes. Cost is $55 for non-members and that includes the cart. I arrived a bit early so I can hit some practice balls on the range. Turns out there is no range here so I decided to have a late breakfast in the restaurant that sits above the 9th/18th hole. When I walked into the restaurant it was like walking into a small neighborhood cafe. The place was filled with mostly senior citizen golfers enjoying coffee and breakfast. I waited a short time before the waitress even acknowledged my presence. She was pretty busy because around 15 diners at once were checking out all with separate bills. I asked for the menu and the waitress returned menu in hand along with a tall glass of ice water with a slice of lemon. I ordered Fried Rice with an Egg ($8). Served with your choice of meat. I went for the Portuguese Sausage. Fried Rice, eggs and sausage were delicious. This was a really good breakfast that filled me up for my 18 holes in the valley. The course here is challenging with several blind holes and some large open fairways. I was challenged on the first 9 holes and then settled down and had some nice pars on the back 9. Course was in pretty good shape with fast greens and some beautiful views of the valley and even Honolulu.
