A Sunday trip to Walmart to pick up four bicycles to donate to a local charity led us to the new 808 Center on Sheridan Street where we found Urban Bistro open for business. We entered to find what seemed to be the owner and a waitress talking up front. We were greeted and told to take a seat anywhere in the restaurant. We did and then we waited. And waited. There was no service. After finding a yellow Post It pad and pencil on the table, my Daughter assumed that we write the menu item number on the Post It and give it to the waitress. We did this and then waited. Still not one person had come to our table and the restaurant was empty except for a table of five in the main dining room. I took the Post It and walked back to the bar and handed it to the waitress. She apologized and said that she would come to the table. She came to the table and took our drink order and explained that we had done the ordering correctly by writing the item numbers on the Post It. My Wife wanted to order the Tacos but wanted a combination of Shrimp, Pork and Fish rather than three of one kind. The waitress said she would check with the kitchen. She came back and said that they could not do the combination of Tacos and that Tacos were not actually available. The Taco menu she said was changed to Wraps. Wow we thought, this place will be out of business in months working like this. We ordered the Red Wings ($8) which the menu said were served with Blue Cheese. The Wings were cooked perfectly and very delicious. Just a bit of heat on the back end but pretty good flavor. The Sauce was not Blue Cheese and we did not use it. The five Wings went fast and I would order them again. Next up was the Fresh Fish Sliders ($15). Two Sliders with Fresh Marlin. Delicious. No complaints here. Just good fresh fish on a bun with lettuce, tomato and a maple mustard sauce. The Steak Sliders ($15) were also quite good. The J.O.B. Pizza ($10) with JalapeƱo, Onion and Bacon tasted like something out of a frozen box. Really disappointed with the pizza. All in all the food was good here. Would not mind trying some of the other menu items on another visit.
