We had made dinner reservations at Arancino at The Kahala Hotel because the last time we were there we saw two tables with small dogs. We brought our dog this time and were told that we could not be seated unless our dog was a "service dog". Disappointed yes, but heck we are at The Kahala so we went downstairs to the Plumeria Beach House and enjoyed a delicious meal and beautiful view. The Kahala Hotel is probably one of my favorite places on earth. Seems like you are on your own island. We started with the Onion Soup which is covered with Fried Onions and a ton of Gruyere and Mozzarella Cheese. I mean a thick layer of cheesey, stringy goodness. I went for the Lobster Thermidor. The flavors were good but there was way too much breading not not much lobster. The side of Ogo Tomato was delicious but I did not understand how this paired or went with the lobster. The Hamakua Mushroom sauce was good too. This dish had a lot going on other than the lobster. I would have preferred a nice large Main Lobster. My Wife went for the Steak and Lobster Bento. She loved the Steak and I think she got more lobster meat then me. The two large lightly fried Shrimp were absolutely delicious. The Bento was the winner on this night. I love The Kahala Hotel and Plumeria Beach House. Always enjoying relaxing and eating here.
