The chef at Prego had a few hiccups during my visits to Prego while on Guam. I still love this little restaurant located inside the Westin but when you get a meal that has two missing main ingredients on the same night, it surprised and upset me. Ordered a half order of the Insalata Brindisi. The salad was to consist of Romaine Lettuce, Bell Pepper, Feta Cheese and Black Olives. The salad arrived with no Feta Cheese. To make things worse on this visit, I ordered the Fettuccine with Crab Meat. The Pasta arrived with absolutely no crab. Not a spec. I ate about half the dish and poked through to the bottom of the pasta looking for a piece of crab. Nothing. I politely told the waitress that there was no Feta in my salad and no Crab in my pasta. A few moments later the Manager arrived table side with the check and she had removed the charge for the pasta. I told her that was not necessary and that I only wanted the kitchen to be made aware of these two mistakes. Food was still tasty, just lacking the main ingredients. On another visit I ordered a half order of the Caesar Salad and the Pappardelle with Lobster. I like the fact that you can order half portions at Prego. Comes in handy when dining alone. The salads are large here and half is more than enough for one person. The Caesar Salad was good but a little too over dressed. Would prefer less dressing and maybe some anchovies. The Pappardelle with Lobster was served with Spinach Pasta which is not indicated on the menu. Kind of surprised me when I got a plate of green pasta. Flavors were good but sauce was a bit watery. I asked the waiter to make the dish "spicy" and the spice nearly blew my head off. The waiter asked if it was too spicy after seeing me making faces after the first few bites. I told him it was perfect and that is what I asked for. It was hot and I loved it. The Lobster chunks were good. The best dishes this visit were the Ahi and Avocado Salad and Linguine with Clams. The Ahi and Avocado is a first class presentation and full of fresh flavors. Love it. By far the best pasta dish I had during the week was the Linguine with Clams. I again asked for "spicy" and received a kicked up plate of pasta that was perfect. Loved the pasta and light sauce. Clams were small but full of flavor. Great dish. I like Prego because it is elegant yet casual. People show up here dressed up and in their shorts and slippers. Diverse crowd of locals and Japanese, Korean and Russian tourists. Noticing lots of Russians on Guam this visit. Nice to see Russia visiting Guam in big numbers.
