Our driver in Napa highly recommended that we make a quick stop at Auberge du Soleil for a drink. The views of the valley he said were amazing. Plus this is one of the nicest and most expensive hotels and spa in world. I checked the daily rate and is was $1850 per night. One day I now tell myself I will stay here. You can smell the money as soon as you drive up and are met by three valets who park your car with a smile. We entered the small lobby and walked to the right where we found a jam packed bar and outdoor patio that was equally packed. The bartender told us to see the guy at the end of the bar for a table. We approached and asked for a seat on the patio overlooking the valley. He showed me a list of customers waiting for the outdoor seats and said it would be 45 minutes. We took a table inside and ordered up some cocktails and appetizers. By the time the food arrived we found a seat outside and joined the crowd on the patio. The appetizers and small plates looked amazing here. We went for the Duck Liver Mousse ($13) served with toasted bread. This was heaven in a jar. Loved every single bite and wanted to bring some home. Also enjoyed the Roasted Bone Marrow ($15) with Horseradish Crust. This was excellent went placed on bread. Sitting at Auberge du Soleil and enjoying this food along with a glass of champagne was magnificent. One of those times where you know you are in the best place at this moment in time.
