When in Texas, you gotta have some good BBQ. While at the George W. Bush Presidential Library, I asked the workers where we could get great BBQ in Dallas. A man quickly spoke up and said the Pecan Lodge. Others in the room agreed so we googled the address and called an Uber driver. In minutes we were at the front steps of Pecan Lodge which on the outside seemed pretty quiet and quaint. When the door opened it was the exact opposite. Loud, crowded and lively with great BBQ coming out on large trays that looked so delicious. We got in the long line that wraps around the left side of the building. It is very controlled with barricades that don't allow people to cut in or for you to get out of the line. There is no claiming a table until you have actually ordered and have a receipt. The line moved along slowly but in minutes we were in front of the large hand written menu above the order counter. When you come from Hawaii, this type of BBQ menu is a huge treat. I looked up and wanted a little bit of everything. I mean everything. Wish there were more than two of us eating on this day so we could have ordered more selections so I could try them all. I went for the 3 Meat Combo Plate w/1 Side ($17). Ribs, Brisket and JalapeƱo Cheddar Sausage. I thought the Brisket was a bit dry but enjoyed the flavors of the meats and especially the Sausage. My friend gave me some Pulled Pork and I made little sandwiches using the rolls and pickles. These Pulled Pork Sandwiches were my favorite dish. Loved the Mac n' Cheese but it was so filling. The Fried Okra was good too but I only managed to eat a few because I was so full from the BBQ. This is a great little BBQ joint and I would highly recommend it if you are looking for BBQ in Dallas.
