ON THE SET OF HAWAII FIVE-O
HONOLULU, HAWAII
Spent an incredible day at the Diamond Head Studios watching the season finale of Hawaii Five-0 being filmed. The entire cast was on set and we were given incredible access thanks to our great host Keiko. I was limited to what I could take pictures of because they requested no photography during a lot of the visit. This is to protect the privacy of the cast and the script which they did not want leaked prior to the broadcast which is about a month from the date of our visit. For those of you who watch the show, the photos here will be self explanatory. Quite amazing to see how much of the show is filmed within the Diamond Head Studios. They can literally recreate most any place or scene in the studios. The Hawaii Five-0 Headquarters looks and feels like a real office building. McGarret's home (which we could not shoot because the lights were off) looks like a real home with everything from photographs to flowers in perfect place. Need a hospital shot...they have that too. Complete with syringes, gauze and instruments for surgery. When you see McGarret and Danno driving down the highway chances are the scene was shot in the studio with rear and side screen projection. The highlight of the day was sitting directly behind the Director as they filmed the final scene of this season. Take after take from every angle you can imagine. The actors delivered their lines and ad-libbed with incredible professionalism. Everyone was so calm and fluid when filming. These guys and gals are true pro's. Working at this level and on a hit show takes a lot of work and it showed. The people behind the scenes were exceptionally gracious during our visit. Really liked that fact that the studio hires dozens of locals to work on the show. The highlight of the day for me was meeting Grace Park and Daniel Dae Kim. Both were so kind to me and took time to talk and pose for photographs after the final scene had wrapped.
