We were heading out of Tucson, Arizona and I asked my friends who were driving if we can stop at a Taco stand before getting on the freeway back to Phoenix. We made a detour through a residential area and pulled into a parking lot where a food truck was parked. Taqueria El Rapido was such a happy site for me as I did not want to leave Arizona without eating Mexican food. I was so excited that I almost ran to the truck to place my order. Ordered a Carne Asada Taco ($1.50) and a Pollo or Chicken Taco for ($1.25). Also decided to get a Carne Asada Burrito ($6) for the ride. First off the prices here are incredible for the quality of food. Cannot believe you can get a steak taco for $1.50 anywhere in this world. And $6 for a large burrito. Wow....this would be $10 or more in Honolulu.

What I really liked about this taco stand is that they had a fresh salsa bar in the back of a tent that fronts the truck. Fresh Pico de Gallo, Cilantro with Onions, Radish, Pickled Onions, Limes, Cucumber and Red and Green Salsas. I added Pico, Cilantro/Onions, Pickled Onion and the Red Salsa. The salsa had a nice heat level. You could feel it but it complimented the flavor and did not burn. The tacos were fantastic!!!! I mean really good. Would eat here weekly if they had a Taqueria El Rapido in Hawaii. The fresh Pico, Cilantro/Onions, Pickled Onions and Salsa took these tacos to another level. I added all that good stuff to my Carne Asada Burrito too and LOVED it!!!! This is the real deal taco stand and I would highly recommend it if you are traveling through Tucson. It is not far from the airport.
