QUEEN OF SHEBA
EILAT, ISRAEL
The Queen Of Sheba Hotel in Eilat is nice. We were upgraded to a small suite and there was a large chocolate cake, candies and water waiting for us in the room upon checkin. The front desk staff was great but from there the service sucks. Bartenders and waitresses in the bar will ignore you, walk by you and talk to each other rather than give you service. This happened several times. The bartender was so rude that he yelled at me when I asked to charge my drink to the room. "Why didn't you tell me that he asked". I looked him in the eye and said "because you never asked". Service in the central restaurant where a breakfast buffet is served was equally as bad. Dozens of people walking the room but nobody will take time to provide service. Ask for coffee and the waitress pointed to the back of the room and said "back there". The hotel's signature restaurant Karibu really ticked me off when our waiter told us we could not charge our meal to the room. I called a little bullshit on that he he came clean and said he wouldn't get the full tip if it is charged to the room. I said that is fine but you do not tell a guest that they cannot charge to the room. He apologized. Service at the pool also sucked with nobody seeming to care about service. The breakfast buffet is large and includes a wide variety of foods from different cultures. They eat a lot and I mean a lot of bread in the Middle East. We watched in amazement as men and woman consumed plates stacked a foot high of bread. Also plates of cheese like you could not imagine. The amount of food some people can eat is amazing. It was interesting to watch all of the different people from different cultures consume so much food. We are not big breakfast eaters so our plates and amount of food was totally different.
The hotel itself is very nice and it is in great location on the water and boardwalk where you can find dozens of restaurants and shops. Really wish the service here was a bit or a lot better.
