Visited my Doctor who is a huge foodie and he was raving about the Vongole at Rigo. Since he is Italian and eats often with Hawaii's best chefs, I thought we would go give Rigo a try.
Entered to find the place quite busy for lunch and liked the vibe. We were seated in the back in a large comfortable seat by the window. It took a long time to get service. In fact, I wanted to leave. The waiter did finally arrive and apologized for the wait. From there on out he did a great job making us feel welcome and explaining different menu items. He recommended the Crostini and said it was a "must". We ordered it and loved it. Probably the best thing we at during this lunch. The Calamari Salsato was uneatable for us as it was loaded with Anchovies. That is all you could taste. Very overpowering. The Salami and JalapeƱo Pizza looked great and tasted good too. Only problem it was a wet mess. You could not hold up a slice because all of the toppings would fall off. We had to go to eating with a fork and Knife. Would be a good pizza if it were crisped a bit on the undercarriage. The Vongole also looked great buck lacked flavor. Pretty bland bowl of Pasta with some good Clams. My Wife did not care for the Chicken Piccata and thought most of the dishes were too salty so I guess this meal was a bust. Don't know if I would go back again but I kind of want to try more menu items and enjoy the vibe.
