Another visit to Il Lupino in Waikiki did not turn out too well for our family. Two people threw up after eating here. One had the Clams and the other the Carbonara. The meal started well with quick seating by the hostess and excellent service by the waiter. We were served the house bread that comes with olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the side. The bread is pretty standard but the balsamic is excellent. The table shared an appetizer special of Grilled Calamari. The Calamari was a bit dry and gummy but the overall taste of this dish was ok. Two of us ordered the Spaghetti with Meatball. Both of us did not like the dish. The meatballs were really moist but very bland. Almost no flavor or seasoning. They may have seasoned the outside of the meatball but the inside lacked anything to add flavor. The sauce was also bland and pretty tasteless. The pasta was cooked perfectly and I just wished the sauce and meatball were better. Our daughter enjoyed the Linguine alla Vongole ($21) with fresh clams with Pomodoro Sauce, but began throwing up when we got home. My wife had the Linguine alla Carbonara ($21). She did not like the taste of the dish and low and behold she was in the bathroom getting sick shortly after eating here. This was a very disappointing visit to Il Lupino. You can search this blog and see that on other visits we enjoyed the food. I am not making plans to visit here anytime soon.
